Let's Be Honest

Let's be honest.  Just between you and me.  How often do you purchase something just because you know it will make a pretty blog post?  I mean, you love it of course, but ~ you absolutely don't need it.
I admit I did it quite a bit when I first started blogging four years ago.  That's how I ended up with so many sets of dishes.  But ~ as of late, I haven't done it for quite some time.
Until last week.
I found this sweet basket/tray at World Market and couldn't resist it.  I absolutely love it.  Perfect for holding plates, mugs, and napkins, or whatever.

Isn't it just too cute?  It holds my new set of bee salad plates that I just purchased at Cracker Barrel.  I used to be a beekeeper, so I love just about anything with bees on it.

Now ~ here's the dilemma.  First of all, if you hang mugs on it, they bang into the plates.  If it wasn't for that, it would be perfect for carrying plates, mugs, and napkins to the deck for entertaining.  It also looks darling if you want to display a set of plates and mugs.  But I don't have enough room in my small kitchen to set it out anywhere.

I thought about keeping it for entertaining, but I really don't entertain that much.  So basically, it would end up in storage.  I think I would find ways to use it, and I think I would keep it if it didn't have the mug hangers on it, but I just simply don't need it.

So ~ next time I'm near the mall and it's not snowing, I'm going to return it.  I must admit I got totally caught up in the moment.  Does that ever happen to you?  You see an inspiring blog post, go shopping, and come home with things you don't need.  For me, one unnecessary purchase usually leads to another unnecessary purchase.
So ~ I thought I'd share a few pretty pictures of this sweet basket/tray before I return it and if anyone is interested, it can be purchased at World Market for $19.99 and is called a "White Wire Dishrack".

The honey pot is a vintage "Tropic Bee" product and still has it's original label on it.  The gold ceramic vase is also a new unnecessary purchase made at the same time as the wire basket from TJ Maxx, but it is a keeper since it matches my dishes so well.

Bee blessed.

I used to be more tempted by such pretty little things, but now I feel the need to have less "stuff" in my house!

It is so cute and I have always love your bee dishes. I have to admit I do get tempted to buy things just to show it on my blog, but so far I haven't bought any of them.

I think it is really cute. But, you're right - it takes up valuable real estate on a countertop. I love the dishes, though - I love anything with bees or honeycomb pattern and I wasn't even a beekeeper!

The wire basket is really cute, but those dishes are WOW, beautiful!

I hate to admit how often this happens to me. And because shopping is so easy from the computer I will see something I love in a blog post and then go to the 'store' and buy one immediately...We need to start a support group. Love the dish rack...hmmmmm. ;j

What a shame it wasn't a better design - you know what would've been perfect? If it had that kind of handles that can be two different heights - like a tube within a tube that clicks tall and then clicks back down - two uses: storage/display and also as a true carrier.

Pity. Love your pics and new bee plates, so perfectly YOU!

Stay warm and dry. Hugs.

Cindy...I love it!!! Your plates look stunning in it! Though I do understand the need to only keep it if you were going to use it all of the time. Ha...and yes...when I have time to shop I do think about my blog posts! We bloggers are so funny that way aren't we?!?!! Such lovely plates...love the bees!!! A wonderful week ahead friend! It's a pretty basket and a shame it's not more practical. Your yellow china is just right for someone who loves anything to do with bees. I like browsing in charity shops, but rarely buy anything as I've so much inherited retro in my china cupboard and I don't really need any more stuff. I do like using what I've got though because each piece has sentimental associations.

It's so hard to not make impulsive purchases ~ I have been trying to work on that but I probably would have purchased the plate rack too ~ it's so cute! Your dishes are adorable. They're like a dose of warm sunshine!

Hi Cindy,

Are you sure you want to return this lovely, shabby chic gem? It looks absolutely perfect with your sweet bee 'ware', like they were almost purchased as a set!! I love the golden ochre hue of the bee crockery. The entire vignette is simply 'beeutiful'!

No, I guess I haven't been blogging long enough to buy stuff for the sake of a post. Plus, I've got SO much stuff packed in boxes that I don't display because their colours don't fit in with what I've chosen...for now. So, I'd shop the house first, and stay away from my favourite stores, which all happen to be across the Atlantic, anyway!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Poppy

I love your beautiful photos and those dishes are to die for Cindy!
Yes, that used to happen to me all the time, and yes, I would return a lot of what I brought home (after the photo) but since I hardly ever get to a real town to shop it became so inconvenient to return my 'spur of the moments' that I can usually resist the urge now :))))
I was so amazed about the snow rollers in your last post...I had never known that happened. SO cool to have learned something new-to-me!
sending hugs...

Hey there! Someone in my Myspace group shared this site with us so I came to give it a look Best Cardsharing Server. I'm definitely enjoying the information. I'm bookmarking and will be tweeting this to my followers! Wonderful blog and outstanding design.

I'm a sucker for anything white painted wire like that. I'd think how cute it would be on the blog too...but no room for it in the kitchen. Sometimes I think about buying things...blogging about them and then returning them! I haven't yet, though.

I would have bought that too! It's perfect with your pretty dishes and together it looks all springy.
