Happy Halloween

I don't really celebrate Halloween much at my house other than passing out candy to the cute little kids on Beggar's Night.  Mostly I limit my decorating to the beautiful array of pumpkins, gourds, and mums that are available these days.
~
But in the spirit of the holiday, I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Halloween ~ however you celebrate it ~ with a collection of photos taken while walking the dog around the neighborhood.

Yard Sale Makeover

This summer I found this framed, machine-embroidered "LOVE" at a
yard sale for $5.  I originally bought it with the intention
of turning it into a pillow that I could sell on Etsy.

It was simple and elegant, and it beckoned to me.

It sat on my bedroom dresser for quite awhile and during that time, I fell in
love with it ~ only it needed a different frame.
So ~ I paired it up with this chippy, more ornate frame
that I found at a flea market.

  I think now it's definitely a keeper.

A Simple Fall Table

Sometimes less is best.
My dining room table is very small and it doesn't take
much to fill it up.  That's why for me ~ less is best.
~
Elegant off-white plates, with an ornate square salad plate, and topped
with a simple white gourd from the garden.

The centerpiece is a collection of chippy and rusty items with lots of texture,
and all in shades of off-white and rust.

These simple white gourds were volunteers in my garden this summer.  They're almost as pretty as the little white pumpkins that are so popular right now.

I found this pretty little leaf while walking the dog one evening and
I think it looks like rust perfected by nature.

This Time of Year

This time of year, my mind turns to cozy comforts,
when shortening days leave time in the evening for a good book all
snuggled up in a comfy throw by the fire . . .

Oven-baked comfort food and wool sweaters are sometimes all you
need on a cold October day to make life seem nearly perfect.

Finally Friday

When the countdown begins for the weekend . . .
when you know you can sleep in tomorrow . . .
when you are master of your time . . .
when everyone breaths a sigh of relief.

Need I say more?

Hoping everyone has a wonderful weekend.
