A Finally Finished Bathroom

Finally ~ a finished bathroom.  I started this project right after Christmas and have been dragging it out ever since.  It wasn't even anything major ~ just cosmetic changes.
Here are a couple before pictures.  As you can see I was trying out paint colors and it looked like this for months before I finally began.

It is a really small bathroom and the only one in my house.  Two in this bathroom is a crowd.

This is a picture of the paneling that was on the wall when I moved in here 23 years ago, but then it was powder blue.  It has an embossed look and I painted it white.  I always wanted to remove it, but there were areas where the seams didn't lay flat, and I was always afraid of what was hiding behind that paneling.

I covered the paneling with Martha Stewart's paintable bead board wallpaper that can be purchased online from Home Depot.  It is wonderful and by carefully aligning the stripes, I could camouflage the uneven paneling seams underneath.

I painted the top of the walls a very pale pink to match the shower curtain and replaced all the trim on the window.

I added a very small piece of decorative trim to the bottom of the crown molding to hide the clumps of paint accumulated from years of painting.  It gave me not only a cleaner edge, but a slightly larger crown molding.

Then came the fun of decorating with a few old accessories and a few new.

A new soap dispenser from Target for the sink . . .

and a basket to hold toilet paper.

I've already shown you this wreath that I made from sweaters for the wall.

And I've shown you the fabric of the shower curtain that was the inspiration for the makeover.  I bought a second shower curtain and sewed them together to make it fuller.  My tub is the original one from when the house was built in the 1940's and it is not a pretty sight.  By adding the additional shower curtain, it not only made it fuller, but covered the ends of the ugly tub surround without stretching the curtain
flat like a sheet.

I also covered the inside of the bathroom door with the bead board wallpaper and rehung the towel rack.  I can't rave enough about this wallpaper and how wonderful it is to work with and the dimensional finished look it gives you.

Like I said at the beginning, it is a very small bathroom, but then there is only me in the house now, so it's all that I need.
Sweet and simple is my new motto.

Your bathroom looks so lovely. I like that little soap dispenser. I wish we had a Lowes in Ottawa. I love your flowers in the jar. Nice assortment of colours.

Would it be possible for you to make your font darker. I could barely read it. It's so pale, it takes ages to decipher what you wrote.

That beadboard wallpaper stuff is amazing - the total look for less and you cannot TELL at ALL!

Brilliant about 2 shower curtains, wish I would have done that myself. Dang. You are so smart.

It's fabulous... I love it!

I'm also lovin' that wallpaper! I will have to check that out for future use.

I also like the idea of sewing two shower curtains together to make it fuller. Great idea!

And the added trim around the window really brings out the window.

Awesome makeover!

I came back to finish reading. I can read it now. It's a bit darker. But, I would like to see it just a teeny bit darker, if you don't mind.

I love the bead board and all the extra trimming you added. The shower curtain is fantastic. I love that you painted the walls pink. I also love that little shelf you added. All in all, you have done a marvelous job!

Hi Friend! Your bathroom looks fantastic! The idea of using to shower curtains is such a great idea. I wish I had thought of that when I was making mine!

Love the molding update around window and the beadboard looking paper is awesome!

Your wreath looks just perfect in that pretty bathroom Cindy! I am sure you are glad to have this project done!

Wish I could say I have a project done! Still working on the creative space and of course the outside facelift is still in middle of construction though we are beginning to see some neat results! Did a post if you are interested in seeing it so far or you could come for summer vacation and see it in person! Hint!!

Have a super week!

You are such a talented lady, Cindy. Everything came out great! I love it all! Such a feminine bathroom would be perfect for me. For my husband, not so much. I'm a fan of the soap dispenser too, along with the wallpaper. But really it all looks wonderful!

I think I may have mentioned to you that I started a redo on our main bathroom several months ago. I'm not at all pleased with the finished product. My daughter likes it but I'm not happy. Seeing as how I've been out of work most of the year, it will have to stay the way it is for now.

Btw, I had no issue reading the font.

I love the look of bead board. We actually added it in our single bathroom and as the backsplash above the quartz in the kitchen. So crisp and clean. Loving the rest of your bathroom makeover, including that yummy shade of pink! Great job!

Hi Cindy,
I just found your blog through Boogieboard Cottage. Its a pleasure meeting you!.
What a delightful bathroom, I just love it! I have been looking at the same wallpaper, now that I see your bathroom with it hung I think I'm going to go ahead and buy some.
You did an amazing job everything looks wonderful!
We have the same soap dispenser from Target. I saw your shower curtain while shopping for a new one for my guest bathroom. If you saw the all yellow curtain that transitions down in different shades of yellow well that's the one I purchased. I have become your newest follower.
Have a sweet day, Elizabeth
