White Magnolia

I wanted to share pictures of a wonderful shop I love to visit when inChagrin Falls, Ohio.  Chagrin Falls is the sweetest little village out east of Clevelandthat I have been visiting off and on for over 35 years.  It is very picturesque with ariver and of course, a water fall, right in the downtown area.

Here is the White Magnolia shop, owned by Marji Hauck and Tammy Saccone. 

 

 Let me take you inside and show you all the pretties.  Be warned ~ lots of pictures ~ but they need no narrating, so enjoy your visit.

To Soon Gone

To soon the lovely leaves ~ so full of color will be gone.I took these pictures outside the nursing home where my Mother is staying.The grounds there are so beautifully landscaped and captured my attention oneday while walking to the parking lot.  I just had to go back with my camera.  I stoppedto catch the color of the hydrangeas, but found myself fascinated with themoss on this tree.

Slowly and quietly the colors of fall slip away.  These pictures were taken

on Saturday as the yellow leaves from my maple tree fell like snow ~blanketing the ground.  I'm so thankful it was only leaves falling onthis sunny day and not the snow that the East coast was getting.

A Trio of Chalkboards

Chalkboards are one of my best sellers at the store and so easy to make.I personally feel, the secret is in finding a great frame to start the project.These three are my favorites of all the ones I've made so far and allthe frames were found at yard sales this summer.
I think this frame was a vanity mirror in it's previous life becauseit has holes in the sides that make me think it was attached to some kind ofstand at some point.

I pretty much left it in it's original state other than a very light sanding andan application of Caromal Color's brown toner.  I love the detail work at the topgiving it so much character and personality.

This next one is an old oak frame that held a mirror when I bought it, but themirror was in such bad shape that I threw it away.

As you can tell, these are pretty large frames.  I like the curved top on this one andthe detail work in each corner.

The last one is kind of a plain Jane, but is actually my favorite.  I think what gives itit's unique personality is it's large dimensional frame.  I forgot to take a picture of it from the side to show you how deep the frame actually is.

Again, I didn't do much to this one either except apply brown toner and touch upthe black paint, only to distress it again.  All three frames already had an old vintage look that I wanted to preserve and simply enhance.

Also heading off to the store is this rusty pineapple pedestal urn that Ifilled with gourds.  The one in the center looks like a goose sticking it's head out.

A Few More

Just a few more pics to share with you from last weekends tripto the country for The Rural Society's farm sale.I love how she filled these window boxes with gourds.

There were two of these beautiful windows installed in one of the out buildingsadding so much charm and character.  Every one of the numerous outbuildings had special additions of unique architectural items, giving each building it's own personality and adding to the collective quaintness of the farm.

This large utility sink was located inside this same out building and filledwith gourds grown on the farm.

Rich velvet pumpkins with real pumpkin stems.

If I remember correctly, almost all of the items in this post were found in this same out building and I overheard someone say this was the original sign for the farm.

Fall in the Country

Once again, words don't do justice for thisbeautiful farm that hosted The Rural Society Fall Antique & Garden Show. I think this may be the prettiest farm I've everseen or maybe it is the gardens that I fell in love with.Anyways ~ see for yourself.
