Scripture Sunday ~ The Good Shepherd

I am the good shepherd:  the good shepherd gives his life for the sheep.

But he that is a hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and flees: and the wolf catches them,
and scatters the sheep.

As the Father knows me, even so know I the Father: and
I lay down my life for the sheep.

On this joyous Easter morning, let us rejoice in a Good Shepherd who not only laid down his life for His sheep, but has risen again.

March Madness

I don't know about you, but March has a way of driving me mad ~ and I don't mean basketball ~ it's this crazy weather.

I look forward to March with such high hopes of spring and warmer weather and flowers. But, more often than not, it leaves me disappointed and only wishing it would hurry on so we could get to April.

This has been one of those Marches.  Every so often there is a tease of spring,
and then it's back to snow, cold temps, and raw winds.

Oh well ~ what can you do except wait it out?

You're Invited to a Garden Party

Since  snow and more snow is the only thing in the forecast, I decided to throw a garden party. Maybe if I hope hard enough I can guilt winter into going away.  So ~ today I'm ignoring the snow outside and celebrating spring's arrival
with a garden party and you're invited.

Every pretty garden should have an entrance gate that beckons you to come in.

Scripture Sunday ~ Let Your Light Shine

You are the light of the world.  A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light unto all that are in the house.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works,
and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 5:14 ~ 16

"We are told to let our light shine, and if it does, we won't need to tell anybody it does.
Lighthouses don't fire cannons to call attention to their shining ~ they just shine."

Longing for Green

It's been a cold and dreary March here in Ohio, leaving one to wonder if
spring will ever escape winter's grip.

This is about as green as it gets in my yard right now.

Even though the weather has been chilly, I have been able to get a few things accomplished in the back yard.

I've been doing some reading and decided to take the space that was my vegetable
garden and turn it into raised beds.

It's been a big and heavy project hauling wood and bags of soil and compost.  Bags of pea gravel are also being brought in to cover the new dividing pathways.
At least all the boxes are made.  I only need to get one box filled right now,
so I can start planting the early crops like peas, spinach, and lettuce.
The rest can be done in the next month or so after my back recovers.

What excites me most is the good soil that will be in the boxes and how much better everything will/should grow.  I've mixed a combination of top soil, compost,
manure, vermiculite and peat moss together to create the perfect growing medium.

Now all I need to do is plant some seeds, pray it gets warmer, and wait for something green to sprout.

Monday's Meanderings ~ The Enchanted Oven

Today I'd love it if you would meander over with me to visit Lisa
at The Enchanted Oven, where she makes the most beautiful cookies ever.
You'll find cookies for every occasion there.

Lisa has been decorating sugar cookies for a little over
two years now and is having lots of fun.

She began her journey in cookie decorating by reading a
few online tutorials and then trial, error, and practice!

She gets a lot of her inspiration from fabrics, vintage motifs,
and nature.  I think every cookie is a work of art and
 far too pretty to eat.

Her cookies are a true labor of love, and she enjoys making them for family and friends.

She is the mom of five children - four boys and one girl.
I bet her pretty creations don't last long with that many hands in the cookie jar.

She even makes pretty pies.

Lisa's other passion is gardening, so when she's not baking, you'll find her in the "enchanted garden", growing veggies, herbs, and tons of flowers!

I hope you get a chance to stop over and visit Lisa because this is
just a small sampling of her beautiful handiwork.
