Porch Almost Finished

You might remember back in September I started replacing some rotted wood on my screened porch, only to find the whole porch needs replacing.  I only had time to replace one side of the porch before winter and you may remember this is the last picture I showed you on the porch status.

This is the kind of rot I found when I took the porch apart.

Well, this is where I am to date, with the outside finished on this side, all except for the screens which I still have to make.

It's so nice to have gotten this far before winter.  My goal this week is to get the screens made before the wisteria leaves fall and all end up blowing inside the porch.
My favorite thing is when I walk up to the screen door and see my newly hung coat rack that I posted about earlier, hanging by the back door of the house.

It makes me sad that it's getting cold and I won't be able to sit out here and enjoy the fruit of my labor much longer.

Or enjoy a meal at my lovely wrought iron table.

I so hate to pack it all away until next spring, but they are calling for some snow this week, so I'll need to move fast.
How do you like the new outside light fixture?  It went from this . . .

to this.

At least I can look out my kitchen window and enjoy the view of a newly painted porch side during the winter and long for warm spring days to come.

wow, that looks fabulous~! I am so happy for you. I have dreamed of a screened in porch for many years..

Yours is just what I want..
it looks like you only have a tiny slop to your roof- is that right?
if so- how do you seal it so theres no rot up there.. any info you'd be willing to share would be greatly appreciated..
I'll be showing my carpenter your beautiful outdoor room so I wont have to keep trying to ust tell him or draw it on paper..

congrats and enjoy every moment of it.

What a lovely, cozy porch! I understand your being sad over having to pack it all away. It must be so nice to sit there and just enjoy life in general! I like your new light! You did a fantastic job!

Cindy your porch has turned out beautifully!!! Love the sheers and can imagine their prettiness as the breeze make them float and shimmy. You have certainly accomplished a lot this summer!!!

I have a light just like yours on the detached sunroom- no not the pretty one- the ugly one! That is one thing on my list to find to change out next spring.

Snow- we got some this last Friday- was so glad I got the rest of my plants in for the winter the night before- I totally forgot about the bees and so we had to go close them up for the winter Saturday! I can't believe I forgot except that the days are just flying by too fast!! November here alreadY??????

Your porch looks great! We are in the process of converting our screened porch into a sunroom. I do like how you had a panel across the bottom.

That's looking great! Love the fixture and the coatrack! We live on our deck, too, so I know how you feel about having to pack it away for the winter!

Found you on Mod Vintage Life's link party!
