Pansies on Parade
Pansies are one of the first flowers to appear in the garden centers here in the midwest. While everything else is still bleak and brown, they offer such a lovely splash of color with their happy faces.

They've never seemed to grow very well for me in my yard. I think maybe it's because our springs fluctuate constantly back and forth between very cold and very warm .

Every year they seem to come up with new colors to tempt us. So while the snow flies outside, I will count the days until they make their appearance in the garden centers and I can bring a few home to brighten my days.

ReplyDeleteI love your photos because I LOVE LOVE LOVE Pansies! I also can't wait for Spring to arrive so I can get some and plant them. I tried them in my deck boxes last year but they didn't fair too well. Then again it was SO hot last summer that everything burned.. Hopefully I'll make out better this year.

They are such a happy little flower! Last year was my first success with them actually! My mom but me a large container of them and they did well in my front yard garden! Usually they flop on me but like you said it is hard to resist that fun splash of color this time of year in the Midwest!!! Happy Wednesday lady!!!

ReplyDeleteI love them also. Unfortunately, I can't keep them. I don't have enough sun on my balcony. I'm not much of a gardener. I usually get petunias for my two planters which I hang on the balcony. I get purple ones. This year, I added a fairy garden. I bought a huge pot and I purchased all sorts of cute things from a place in California catering to fairy gardens.
ReplyDeleteThere was only one time in my life when a had a fabulous flower garden which I had planted from seeds. The only reason the garden was so successful is that the woman next door had once owned a farm and she would advise me when it came time to transplant. She would tell me what was a weed and what was a flower because I could not discern, not knowing the difference between the beginning flower and the weed.
So pretty! There are happy pansy faces in my garden and I just love them!

I love pansies but could never have them when I lived in the Pacific Northwest because the deer considered them "candy"! Now that I'm living in the Midwest and have a porch to decorate as soon as it quits snowing and Spring arrives...I will look forward to pansies and other flowers! I'm glad I discovered your lovely blog...
