Catching Rays

The other evening I was walking through the living room and was
taken by the sunlight filtering in through the shutters and the
shadows they cast.

My living room has a lot of dark wood and leather couch, so
on a dark dreary day, it feels even darker.  Catching the evening spring
sun peeking in is something to stop and enjoy.

A sampler I made many years ago reminds me of the
cross-stitch phase of my life.

I wish I could say these were real forsythia cut from the yard,
but alas, I'm still waiting for the outside bushes to burst into glorious bloom.
Until then, I'll have to be content with my faux flowers and
catching rays of sunlight.

  1. Beautiful photographs! My den can be a bit dark also, so I love the afternoon sun streaming in the windows! Have a great weekend!

  2. You did a great job lighting up your room with such beautiful flowers, yellow it's always perfect, I have my walls painted pale yellow and when there's even a little sun, boy, the whole house lightens up! I love the idea of flowers to brighten up a sad wheather day.

  3. The forsythia are beautiful, they look very real but your cross stitch sampler is really fabulous. Must have taken you a lot of time to finish it...Christine

  4. The shadows created is absolutely beautiful. I thought the forsythia was real. Looks great! And that sampler is lovely. I used to stitch big projects, but now stick with simpler things as my patience wears thin when something takes forever to complete. :/ Hope you are having a great weekend. Tammy

  6. I wouldn't have known that they were faux if you hadn't said it. It's beautiful. I happen to love the way the sun plays on top of things too.

  7. Sometimes the warm light of early morning or early evening just makes you sigh. There's so much beauty in the long shadows.

Go out and cut some Forsythia, bring it in and put it in a vase of water. It will be blooming before you know it!

  9. Great shadow captures, the early evening light is so soft at this time of year.
My forsythia has blossomed and faded already but the fruit trees and ornamental cherry tree are just coming into flower now.
I love to watch the garden evolve in spring.

  14. I am catching up on blog reading you have been so busy since I last called by. I am impressed with the make over in the most recent post, I bet your daughter changes her mind when she sees it! As for your forsythia I thought it was real, it certainly looks just as good as the vase I have indoors at the moment.
