Christmas Through the Years

My tablescape today is again with my old faithful
Phaltzgraff dishes ~ only this time ~ they are my Christmas
dishes that I have had for over 25 years.  Once again, they
were purchased as seconds at the Phaltzgraff outlet in Lancaster, PA.

I'm sure you've all seen them before.  They are the old
"Heritage" pattern that were sold from 1981 ~ 2006.

I have service for 10, but to change them up, this year
I added red salad plates to give them a little punch of color.

The glasses I've had as long as the dishes.

But the napkins and napkin holders are new this year ~
recently purchased from Goodwill.

The centerpiece I made last Christmas and is a simple
wreath with red berry picks and pine cones added in for color
and texture.  It surrounds a glass globe with a red candle
set amidst artificial decorative snow.

Having had these dishes for 25 years, I had grown a little tired of them
and hadn't even bothered to get them out the last few years.
But I'm amazed at the difference the red napkins,
salad plates, and red candle centerpiece made to brighten
the table and make it look festive and suddenly new again.

Now I just need to invite someone over for dinner.

  3. Hi! Sorry my link didn't work on the double piping. See the post on Sept. 18 - a chair and an attoman for the how to. Then I changed the way it went around the chair in an October post. Hope this helps. Oh, pretty table setting! Linda

  5. Invite me...invite me!! I'd love to come over for dinner with you!!

How cool that you've had the same gorgeous crockery for so long. That shows how well you pick things - that you still love them all this time later.

  10. Well done! I love it that your are using your old china in a new way. It is a classic design, just like the Spode Christmas tree design so it will never date. I do love the red additions. You could even pull in some lime green too which is all the rage now if you wanted to update further. I love the Xmas tree napkin rings from Goodwill. Anyway overall, a lovely job.

  11. I think those dishes are pretty all on their own, but the red salad plate does add a punch.

My very favorite part of the table is the napkin ring. I LOVE those.
