Wednesday's Weather

Everyone has things they look forward to with the changing of each season.  One of my favorite things is being able to hear the birds singing in the morning.

Never mind that it's only around 30 degrees outside, on the days I work from home, I crack the window just an inch, and listen to them greet the morning light.

The mornings may still be chilly, but they don't seem to mind.
They always sound so happy.

I love it when multiple species are singing at the same time and they sound like a heavenly chorus, willing spring to come.

I know people who complain about the birds waking them up, but as for me ~ I never tire of birdsong ~ no matter what time of day they sing their lullaby's.

Test Tube Tuesday

I wanted today to feature my sister, Lynette's, delightful Etsy shop
and her darling little test tube bud vases.

She makes these sweet bud vases from blocks of wood and test tubes,
and then paints and decorates them.

Wouldn't these bud vases brighten up any table setting?

You can even order them unfinished or have them custom painted
in any color to match your table or decor.
And wouldn't they make a darling gift?

Lynette graduated from the Columbus College of Art & Design and loves to dabble in many forms of art, including painting, photography, knitting, crochet, sewing,
and just about anything else you can think of.

Proceeds from Lynette's sales, goes to helping the poor and hungry. Giving to others in need is the goal for her art, which she gives locally to food pantries, and to families in need. She also likes to give globally to the poor countries in Africa, through Children International, and World Vision.

So if you get a chance, stop over and visit Lynette's
little Etsy shop and also check out some of the other forms of
her creativity.

Rainy Days and Mondays

Rainy days and Mondays always get me down . . . or so the song goes.

But what happens when the rainy day is a Monday?
Only one solution ~ crawl back into bed.

How about one of these dreamy beds?  I'd take any of them.

Or how about one of these?

Oh ~ if only I didn't have to go to work today.
At least it is warm and rainy and not cold and rainy.

Scripture Sunday

This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him,
and saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps round about them that
fear him, and delivers them.

O taste and see that the Lord is good:  blessed is the
man that trusts in him.

Winter Bedding

I showed you this photo a month or so ago.  In it are the fabrics that I've had for some time to make new winter bedding.

Well, I finally got around to making the duvet cover
and new pillow shams.

The rooms in my house are so dark due to the large trees outside and I've made a concerted effort over the last few years to lighten up my house.  Even though this new fabric made the room darker, I was surprised how much I loved it.

I think it was the warm gold colors in the fabric that made me want to jump in, cover up, and hibernate until spring.

With piles of pillows and a comfy throw, it is my new favorite
place to hang out until spring arrives.

The bed skirt and drapes are currently the drab army green stripe fabric that can be seen in this picture, but will be remade from the dot linen fabric that is seen in the first collage.  Hopefully that will help lighten up the room again.

But the bed skirt and drapes will have to wait until next winter since they are not my favorite or easiest sewing projects.  And besides ~ spring is just around the corner and there are numerous projects waiting outdoors.

Winter's Last Farewell

By this time of year, there is nothing very special about snow ~ except it's beauty.  And since winter is making it's last farewell (I hope), she certainly did it in grand style and extravagance.

Everything was iced with an extravagant layer of heavy wet snow, splitting bushes and bowing branches to the ground.

A neighbor's house across the street, with multiple lights on, giving it
a romantic glow in the early morning light.

Everything simple becomes exquisite dressed up in winter finery.

 Farewell winter ~ hello spring!
