Scripture Sunday

This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him,
and saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps round about them that
fear him, and delivers them.

O taste and see that the Lord is good:  blessed is the
man that trusts in him.

Winter Bedding

I showed you this photo a month or so ago.  In it are the fabrics that I've had for some time to make new winter bedding.

Well, I finally got around to making the duvet cover
and new pillow shams.

The rooms in my house are so dark due to the large trees outside and I've made a concerted effort over the last few years to lighten up my house.  Even though this new fabric made the room darker, I was surprised how much I loved it.

I think it was the warm gold colors in the fabric that made me want to jump in, cover up, and hibernate until spring.

With piles of pillows and a comfy throw, it is my new favorite
place to hang out until spring arrives.

The bed skirt and drapes are currently the drab army green stripe fabric that can be seen in this picture, but will be remade from the dot linen fabric that is seen in the first collage.  Hopefully that will help lighten up the room again.

But the bed skirt and drapes will have to wait until next winter since they are not my favorite or easiest sewing projects.  And besides ~ spring is just around the corner and there are numerous projects waiting outdoors.

Winter's Last Farewell

By this time of year, there is nothing very special about snow ~ except it's beauty.  And since winter is making it's last farewell (I hope), she certainly did it in grand style and extravagance.

Everything was iced with an extravagant layer of heavy wet snow, splitting bushes and bowing branches to the ground.

A neighbor's house across the street, with multiple lights on, giving it
a romantic glow in the early morning light.

Everything simple becomes exquisite dressed up in winter finery.

 Farewell winter ~ hello spring!

Monday's Meanderings ~ A Rich Tapestry

If you've ever wanted to meander through the English countryside,  then you must stop by to visit
 Linda at A Rich Tapestry.

When Linda and her husband retired, they moved to Yorkshire,
in the north of England, to support their daughter by
being available to look after their two grandchildren.
In their free time, they visit various parts of England, and
Linda is always posting about her journeys.

I love her photos and snippets of history and
feel like I am traveling along beside her.
I feel like she is sharing with me England as I've
always imagined it would be.

Linda is interested in public gardens and garden design, local history, architecture, and projects that encourage communities to appreciate their local heritage.

From rolling countryside . . .

to stone cottages and walls . . .

history and age abounds everywhere.

England even has palm trees.  Who knew?

Linda's husband is Italian and they have a second home in the countryside of Italy, south of Rome, which they visit several times a year.  But for today ~ we're limiting our meanderings to England.

I hope you've enjoyed our journey and will stop over to visit
Linda in person and follow along on her jaunts around the English and Italian countryside.

Fabulous Friday

Winter just doesn't want to loosen it's grip here in Ohio.
Another weekend forecast for cold temps and intermittent snow.
